Hello!

We are Alpha Communication, a co-operative marketing and design agency based in North East England. We work with value-driven people, enterprises and organisations across the UK to help them promote what they do.

This tumblr acts as as a space for us to scrapbook stuff that inspires us and catalogue some of the things that we have created. We love to connect with other creatives, co-operatives and like minded organisations so please drop us a line! :)

I have always wanted to design a little calendar using some of my photos from the year. This year, I thought it would be fitting to use Instagram photos, and I’m excited to finally present the finished product. The calendar is printed on a nice matte paper and comes unbound, so there’s some flexibility in how you want to display it”

I’ll be the first to admit I am obsessed with Instagram, so naturally I love this photo calendar by Alice Gao. Not only does this calendar look great, but on top of that 25% of November’s proceeds will go to Hurricane Sandy relief! So hurry!

What Do You Think? Co-operatives United: Day 2 (by Coops Utd)

Our Co-operative Director Dave Parker was interviewed for this video at Coops United! He gives a shout out to our friends Shared Interest :)

Even though women outnumber men 4/1 here at Alpha we’re ALL still determined to show our moustached support for Movember - here’s our Multimedia Director Laura modelling a classic black number of her own design…

Last week we went on a co-operative trip to Manchester for Co-operatives United World Expo: it was amazing!

No time (lots of work to catch up with!) to write a long post about it right now. So, in short, this is what we got up to:

  • Went to the Enterprise Hub annual conference and dinner, and saw all of our hard work on their New Pioneers review come to fruition :)
  • Laura and Fen attended the Gender Forum, at which Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee gave an inspiring keynote
  • Met a Harry Potter lookalike who was doing the rounds promoting #coopsfilmfest (Fen was especially excited as she loves Harry Potter)
  • Attended the Supporters Direct reception at the National Football Museum - free wine is the key to any successful event! :)
  • Ate co-operative ice cream, drank co-operaive beer and wore cute paper animal ears in the Co-operative Village
  • Read the amazing Co-operative Revolution: A Graphic novel; both in book form and as wonderful blown up versions scattered about on Co-operation Street
  • Met up with many of our co-operative friends, such as @coop_finance, @coop_loan_fund, @EnterpriseHub, @SharedInterest, @cooperativeweb and @coopsNW
  • Made new #coops friends! Such as @woodcraftfolk @newsfromnowhere @EqualExchangeUK
  • Had the chance to meet other creative co-operators @Wave_design and @calverts!
  • Played Co-opoly!
  • Saw loads of banners, leaflets and booklets we designed - often we don’t get to see the finished articles ‘in the flesh’ (especially if it’s something large like a banner) so this was a real treat :)

Dave Raftery, who has added his reaction to our live map, has shared this gif with us to show how he’s feeling.

What’s your fav Election gif of the day?

Branding we created for a North East Social Enterprise Partnership event taking place in Newcastle this month - Social Finance: Hear from those who’ve got it and those who haven’t. 22 November 2012, The Beacon, Westgate Road.

We went for a vintage look inspired by old debate posters, love how the background came out! The smaller image is for use on social media and in e-shots, and the larger is for use as a flyer or poster; whether reproduced in printed format or online.
